ELIGIBILITY:The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, except for New York, who are 18 years of age and older at the time of entry. Employees or compensated affiliates of Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, franchisees, sales representatives, distributors, agents, and vendors involved with this Sweepstakes, and the immediate family and household members of all such employees and compensated affiliates, are not eligible to enter or win. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law.
TIMING/ENTRY LIMITS: The Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on June 16, 2023 and ends at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time on July 5th, 2023 (the “Entry Period”). All entries must be received during the Entry Period to be eligible. Sponsor’s computer clock is the official timekeeper for the Sweepstakes, and entries are not valid until the information is received by Sponsor’s computer.
HOW TO ENTER: There are two ways to enter the sweepstakes:
Online: During the Entry Period, visit ezTaxReturn.com, sign into your account, follow the online steps to start the tax preparation process for free for 2022, reach the home address section, and click on “Enter to Win” to receive an entry into the Sweepstakes.
Entrants can earn 10 additional entries by completing and filing their taxes using ezTaxReturn.com.
Mail-in entry (Free alternative method to entry): Alternatively, entrants can enter the Sweepstakes by mailing their hand-written personal information including name, address, city, state, zip code, daytime phone number, and email address on a piece of paper to ezTaxReturn.com “Independence Day” Sweepstakes, 111 Town Square Place, Suite 1203, Jersey City, NJ, 07055.
Mail-in entries must also contain the following words:
Write “START MY RETURN” on the bottom left-hand side of the envelope to earn one entry into the Sweepstakes.
Write “FILED MY TAXES” on the bottom left-hand side of the envelope to earn 10 additional entries.
By entering online or via mail, you agree that entries and any information collected in connection with the Sweepstakes may be used by Sponsor for the intended purpose and as otherwise outlined herein. All entries must include a valid email address or email account (“Account”). Sponsor expressly reserves the right to disqualify any entries that it believes in good faith are generated by an automated program or via scripts or via any other means that are fraudulent or not allowed by these Official Rules. By participating, all entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which shall be final in all matters.
Limit eleven (11) entries per entrant.
PRIZE: One (1) unique winner will receive a Prize of $250 USD, to be paid via check.
Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution is allowed. Prizes consist only of the items specifically listed as part of the prize. All income taxes related to the acceptance of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Any elements of the prize or awarding of the prize that are not specifically outlined herein will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
DRAWING: Sponsor will select one (1) winner at random in the drawing on or about July 5, 2023. The winner will be drawn from the pool of eligible Entries received during the Entry Period. Odds of winning depend on total number of Entries received.
The winning entrant will be contacted via email response to their Account approximately one week after the end of the Entry Period. The winner must reply to the winner notification from Sponsor within two (2) weeks of the first attempt to contact the winner to claim the prize. It is the responsibility of the winner to maintain and monitor the Account so they can be contacted within the required timeframe. Allow up to 30 days for delivery of the Prize.
In the event of dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on the Account, or if more than one person uses the same Account, the winning entry will be declared the “Authorized Account Holder” of the Account submitted at the time of the entry, unless agreed otherwise. The “Authorized Account Holder” is the person to whom the applicable Internet service provider has assigned the Account.
If any prize notification or prize is returned as undeliverable, a requested response is not received by Sponsor in the required timeframe or the original winner is deemed ineligible for any reason, the Prize may be awarded to an alternate winner, selected by random drawing from among remaining Entries.
The winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, liability release, publicity release (if not prohibited by law), agreement governing the terms of the grant of the prize, and any other necessary documents (collectively the “Documents”). If any of the requested Documents are not validly executed and returned within the time specified in the Documents, the prize may be forfeited in its entirety and an alternate winner may be selected as outlined above. Award of prize and confirmation of winner is contingent upon potential winner’s qualification and compliance with these Official Rules.
LIABILITY LIMITATIONS: If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation disruptions caused by any device, computer, virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, acts of God, factors beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control, or any other cause that corrupts, affects or compromises the administration, security, fairness, integrity, proper conduct or intended play of the Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that Sponsor deems responsible. In such situations, Sponsor further reserves the right, but shall have no obligation, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes, and may substitute an appropriate alternate method of prize award selection, including to award the prizes from among all valid and eligible entries received up to the time the Sweepstakes was interrupted.
Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications failure, theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, including any erroneous appearance of qualification for a prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or provider, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor due to technical problem or traffic, congestion on the internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes. ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
RELEASE: By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants waive all right to, and hold Sponsor, Meta, related promotional retail partners and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, franchisees, service agencies, independent contractors, and the officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives of any of the above organizations harmless from, any claim, liability, loss, damage (including punitive, incidental, and consequential damages), or expense (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Entrants acknowledge that this Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Meta.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION/CHOICE OF LAW: Issues arising out of or relating to the Sweepstakes or these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York. All disputes arising out of or relating to this Sweepstakes will be resolved individually, and without resort to class action, exclusively by the appropriate federal or New York State Court. Should there be a conflict between the laws of the State of New York and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the State of New York.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: The Sweepstakes and all of the related pages, contents and code, and the copyright therein, are the property of Sponsor. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
