How Do I Check on my Colorado State Refund?
You can check the status of your Colorado tax refund 24/7 online by visiting https://www.colorado.gov/revenueonline
Scroll down to “Refund Resources“ and click "Where's My Refund for Individuals".
On this page, you will need to:
- Select the Account Type from the dropdown menu.
- Select the ID Type from the dropdown.
- Enter your SSN or ITIN.
- Enter the refund amount from your original return or PIN/Letter ID from a letter you received from the department.
Once you’ve entered the required information, click "Get My Refund” for your refund status. The "Where's My Refund for Individuals" tool is updated daily so be sure to check back periodically. If the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) needs more information in order to process your refund, they will contact you by mail.
Refund FAQs:
What do I do if I can’t check my refund status?
Please verify that you have entered the correct refund amount and used the primary SSN for the return. If you do not know your refund amount, you can enter a PIN/Letter ID from a recent income tax correspondence from the CDOR. Taxpayers who do not have a PIN/Letter ID, may request one using the "Request a Letter ID" link on the Revenue Online home page (https://www.colorado.gov/revenueonline)
Will receiving a "Validation Key" letter delay my refund?
The CDOR has a "Validation Key" process to help detect and prevent identity theft-related refund fraud. As part of this process, the CDOR may send you a letter by U.S. Postal Service asking you to enter information on its website to validate your Colorado refund. If you do not respond to the CDOR’s request in a timely manner, your refund may be delayed.
