Remember how hard it was to find toilet paper when the pandemic began?  Well, you’re about to start experiencing déjà vu.  Over the last 7 days the United States has averaged more than 157,000 new cases of COVID-19 daily.  As the numbers rapidly increase, people have begun panic buying again fearing another lockdown.  Hopefully, it won’t happen, but it’s good to be prepared.  Here are some items to buy now before they’re sold out.

Thermometers

Most people who caught COVID-19 started experiencing symptoms 2-14 days after being exposed.  Common signs to watch out for are fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, muscle aches and fever.  The flu also comes with similar symptoms which can make it hard to differentiate between the two.  If you start experiencing any of these symptoms take your temperature and follow the CDC guidelines.

Disinfecting sprays and wipes

The CDC recommends disinfecting frequently touched objects.  Key areas to wipe down are doorknobs, light switches, toilets, keyboards, and countertops.  The Environmental Protection Agency has a list of products that can be used to kill the coronavirus.  Products shown to be effective are Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Lysol Disinfecting Wipes (All Scents), Lonza Formulation R-82 and Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

Hand sanitizer and soap

The best way to protect yourself from getting sick is to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Since that isn’t always possible when you’re out in public, carry a bottle of hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol with you.

Toilet paper

There are some things you never want to run out of, and toilet paper is at the top of the list.  Unfortunately, it’s been hard to come by since the pandemic began.  As soon as the stores restock their shelves, it’s sold out again.  So if you happen to see it, make sure you pick up a few rolls.  Even if it’s not the brand you normally use, it’s still better than being forced to use your sleeve.

Exercise equipment

Everyone needs at least 30 minutes of exercise per day.  But, if the COVID-19 cases start rising too high, gyms are going to be one of the first things to close again.  Your only other option will be to workout at home.  Invest in a set of dumbbells and any other exercise equipment you can afford so you have no excuse not to work out.

Baking supplies

While being forced to self-quarantine, many people took up baking to cope with stress.  According to Google, the most searched for recipes were for banana bread and pancakes.  With the weather getting colder and the pandemic dragging on, we’re going to be stuck indoors a few more months.  That gives you more than enough time to test out new recipes.  So, head to the store and grab all the baking essentials you’ll need.
