6 of the Most In-Demand Jobs Right Now

The future is looking bright now that more people are getting vaccinated, and businesses are hiring.  If you’re searching for a new job, LinkedIn recently revealed the most in-demand jobs based on the number of postings on their website.  Here are some positions that made the list along with the average pay.

Software engineer

Software engineers are always in high demand.  It’s their job to assess a client’s needs, then design, develop and test software that fits the bill.  To excel in this position, you’ll need excellent coding/programming skills, the ability to work as a team and good problem-solving skills.  Usually, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field is required. 

Average salary:  $87,146 per year

Salesperson

As a salesperson in the retail industry, it’s your job to assist customers during their shopping trip.  You’ll welcome them to the store, help them find specific items, keep track of inventory and promote products.  This is a great job for someone who loves interacting with people and has a helpful personality.

Average hourly pay:  $11.38 per hour

Receptionist

Next on the list of most in-demand jobs are receptionists. They perform various administrative duties.  They welcome visitors into the office, issue visitor passes and direct them where they need to go.  Receptionists also answer and forward phone calls, maintain a clean reception area, schedule appointments, prepare meeting rooms and sort mail.  To be successful, you’ll need excellent communication skills and must be proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel.

Average hourly pay:  $13.31 per hour

Registered nurse

The healthcare industry is full of opportunities for Registered Nurses (RNs).  As an RN, some of your responsibilities are to monitor patient vital signs, administer medication and treatments, assist with procedures, and educate patients on how to care for themselves once they’re discharged.

Average hourly pay:  $30.34 per hour

Pet groomer

Groomers help keep your pets looking their best.  They bathe, brush and dry them, trim their nails/hair, clean their ears, check for tooth decay, and follow any other special instructions the pet owner may have.  Potential groomers must be good with animals, have good customer service and communication skills.  Typically, you’ll only need a high school diploma.

Average hourly pay:  $12.34 per hour

Project manager

Project managers are responsible for organizing a company’s ongoing projects and making sure they’re completed on time and within budget.  They create tasks, assemble a team, design schedules, manage costs, and keep track of the progress.  To be successful, you need to be a good leader, communicator, money manager and have the ability to think ahead.  Most project managers also have at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Average salary:  $74,842 per year
