5 Easy Ways Your Family Can Save on Summer Entertaining

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Do you look forward to summer each year, but feel anxious about increased expenses while the kids are out of school. Do you want your family to have a memorable summer, but don’t want to empty your bank account in the process? There are easy ways to reduce your spending and yet still enjoy a summer full of fun and giggles. Check out the following five ways to easily reduce your summer entertaining expenditures:

– Buy groceries in bulk at stores like Costco or Sam’s Club. Stick to your grocery list and don’t be tempted by those talented food demonstrators attempting to lure you to their wares.

– Instead of buying a new barbecue grill, make do with your current one or scour the local online classified ads for an almost new model. Keep a close eye on classified ads just after Father’s Day as plenty of dads will have received a brand new grill for their big day.

– Instead of splurging on summer temptations like afternoon trips to the ice cream truck or evening excursions to the local Dairy Queen, keep your freezer stocked with cool treats like Popsicles and ice cream bars. The money you save can be used towards other summer expenditures like electric fans to help keep the family cool.

– Opt for free local events instead of costly trips to the amusement park. You can have just as much fun enjoying free events within your own community and the cash you save can be used for other summer expenditures or back to school clothing.

– Make a resolution to reduce your shopping trips. Instead of making multiple trips to the mall each week, combine all your trips into one mega shopping excursion. Not only will your shopping trips be more enjoyable, chances are good you’ll spend less in the long run.

These are just five of numerous ways you can reduce your summer entertaining expenses. It might seem difficult at first, but the extra cash in your bank account will make the effort worthwhile. Do you have any helpful tips for reducing summer spending?
